The Pomsky
The Pomsky is a relatively recent hybrid dog breed, created by crossing the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian. The goal was to create a dog that combines the most desirable traits of both breeds: the beauty and elegance of the Husky with the small size and gentleness of the Pomeranian.
However, for the breed to be recognized by the FCI, it is mandatory to include at least one 3rd breed, which is why you can find other breeds, preferably Nordic, in the Pomsky's genetics: Malamute, Eskimo Samoyed at a maximum of 15%, breeds such as the Chihuahua, German Shepherd etc... have no place in the Pomsky's genetics, however, as DNA breed percentage tests are not 100% reliable, a margin of error of 10% is tolerated.

Origin of the Pomsky
The first Pomsky appeared in the early 2010s, a result of the growing demand for small dogs with the distinctive characteristics of the Husky. Being a hybrid breed, the Pomsky is not yet recognized by the FCI or the LOF, but it is gaining popularity thanks to its unique appearance and pleasant temperament.
Physical characteristics
Size and Weight: Pomskies are generally small to medium in size, weighing between 4 and 15 kg and measuring 25 to 45 cm at the withers.
Size can vary depending on the proportion of genes inherited from each parent.
Coat: Their coat is often thick and double-coated, similar to that of a Husky, requiring regular brushing to prevent matting and shedding. Colors can vary, including combinations of white, black, gray, brown, and red.
Eyes: Pomskies can have brown, blue, or even heterochromatic eyes (each eye a different color), often inheriting the captivating eyes of the Husky.
Temperament and behavior
Intelligence and Energy: Like the Husky and the Pomeranian, Pomskies are very intelligent and energetic. They love to play and run, and require a lot of mental and physical stimulation to stay happy.
Affection and Sociability: Pomskies are generally very affectionate and sociable. They love spending time with their family and can be very protective.
Training: Although intelligent, Pomskies can also be stubborn. Consistent and patient training from a young age is essential. Positive reinforcement techniques work well with them.
Health and care
Exercise: They need regular exercise to avoid boredom and destructive behavior. Long walks, interactive games, and even activities like agility training can be beneficial.
Nutrition: A balanced, high-quality diet is essential for maintaining their health. It is important to monitor their weight to prevent obesity.
Veterinary care: Like all breeds, Pomskies need regular checkups with the vet and to be up-to-date with their vaccinations and preventative treatments.
In summary, the Pomsky is a charming and active dog that combines the best of the Husky and the Pomeranian. With proper care, they can be loyal and adorable companions, perfect for those looking for a small to medium-sized dog with a lively and affectionate personality.
